Using video conferencing for training purposes

In today’s hi-tech era appropriate use of video conferencing can actually act as a game changer for companies around the world. Recently companies specializing in education and academic programs are leveraging this technology to offer virtual training classes to students as well as to their internal employees and trainees. Candidates who are preparing for overseas examination and other competitive exams often end up attending online classes and participating in webinars through this technology. That is not all. There are also companies that organize online interviews with short listed candidates using this medium to save time and get the job done in a smooth way.

Previously, there were instances when organizations use to arrange an employee training session at a specific location asking their trainers and employees to be present at a particular date and time.  Things today are changing with new technologies coming in. A seminar hall or a banquet space selected for the training session has a limit to which it can accommodate people.  However, with advanced video conferencing tools and techniques a company can increase their count of trainees and the virtual space is unlimited. Furthermore, online tutors and trainers too can use this technology to train more than one candidate.  Other benefits include the following:-

·         When a company organizes a training session in a particular venue there are chances that certain employees are unable to attend owing to specific causes. However, if the same session is conducted online, then employees can attend it from being present at home.  Sometimes the distance becomes a problem as some people have to come to work from remote locations.
·         Also when a training session is taking place in a particular venue, the company needs to incur costs like price for the site, logistic costs like stage, podium, projector, lunch or high-tea and other similar expenses. Even if the training session is being held at an office board room then the price of AC and electricity is unavoidable. With video conferencing technology all these extra costs can be taken care of. The trainer is logged in through a room which makes use only of the required electricity. The company need not take on the price for the attendees.
·         Today this type of conferencing through video is considered progressive and new age. Therefore whether it is an academic institution or a company, making use of this technology can make a brand attain competitive edge over other market players.

Furthermore, with the recent developments in software technologies and workstation solutions, video conferencing rooms are well equipped with all the required equipments and tools like log in procedures and others necessary to conduct the conference in a streamlined manner. The discussions and training take place in a systematic format and there are also scopes for question and answers as and when required.
